DEMYSTIFYING the MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY
Following discussion outlining how breadfruit was but a subsidiary theme of Bligh’s Admiralty Orders:

The “Bounty” myth or legend should not be forced upon generations of inquiring minds. There must be freedom to appreciate and acknowledge how science, as it habitually does, confirms, disproves, and or challenges historic accounts previously held dear. Stubborn exceptionalist historians have a responsibility to lift their game. The solution to solving the puzzle of why there was a mutiny on the Bounty lies in material outside of common Bountiana literature. The mere word “Bountiana” suggests that in the case of Bligh’s high profile mutiny, over time, what originally were partly true and partly false accounts, upon Bligh’s passing have combined to solidify the legend into a particularly lucrative myth. And not all unwittingly: ostensibly due to commercial and political reluctance to investigate forensically; i.e., power is only too happy to preserve the myth and its interests. It is truly astonishing how many reputable scholars of Bountiana begin their academic accounts with perceptions of seductive Tahitian women. Alluring wahinis are viewed as an essential precursor to writing anything about Bligh and the Bounty.

Every person, social institution, or corporation, with a perceived, or real, vested interest in preserving the myth tend to impede inquirers who would dare to “rock the boat”. This post is not a stricture on the process of mythmaking in human psychology; rather it’s a rally for common sense to prevail between Fletcherphile and Bligherphile cultural anthropologists. The essence of the ‘Conspiracy’ does not discount the everyman humanity of those affected by the mutiny; however there is little kinship between romantic mythical notions and due scientific expression. If we think outside of the box there are certain, fundamental, irreducible facts that can only be ignored at risk of being coerced to defend the indefensible. The author’s two books, The Great Bounty Conspiracy …’ and Conspiracy on the Bounty …’, and related papers, introduce and define ‘irreducible facts’ that positively demystify the mutiny.
